John Mayer

Recently I've been getting really into John Mayer- I had always thought he was just a pretty face and an amateur actor who screwed over Jennifer Anniston, so of course my first impression of him was pretty shitty.

But some of his stuff is pretty amazing. Like REALLY amazing. 'Who Says' might be one of my favourite songs of all time.

BUT (and this is a pretty big but), I have a bone to pick with one of his songs. In 'Free Fallin' he talks about a good girl, quickly followed by 'she loves jesus and America too'. I'm all for patriotism, more power to ya!, but the slipping in of the word Jesus kind of fucked me off.

Now its one thing to say someone loves jesus, free speech and all that, but the implication that one must love jesus to be a good girl is very much there, and very much wrong.

it annoys me that these kind of (i dont want to call them subliminal, but thats what they are) subliminal messages are put into so many songs. It's a kind of brainwashing, as if to say that people are somehow defined by their position on religion.

I'm basically a good girl and I don't particularly love jesus, I barely even know the guy! Does that mean i'm a "bad girl"?

Sheesh give a girl a break!

Okay that was a pretty self-indulgent blogpost considering that i have all of ONE follower- but she is a pretty amazing one.

Heya peeps (considering i have no followers i find that highly amusing),

So here i am, new to blogspot.com, and this is post is officially de-flowering me. I have a tumblr, but so far i am enjoying this form of blogging much more. It makes me feel like something out of sex and the city; its much more matter of fact than tumblr (Which seems to be more about pictures and music? im not dissing it, just that my simple brain is addled by the idea that blogs can be for more than just typing. Plus i cant work out how to get the links etc as I am technologically retarded.

So, again, here i am!

Forgive me if a) my blogging is absolute shite, im basically a newbie b) if my layout is shit and c) if you dont like my blog name- although I believe it to be very witty and very apt.
